Quality - Draft Priority #3

How could we measure progress toward the following priority:

Promote a culture of personal and professional development among employees

  1. Involvement in professional development programs on our campus and reporting to the college on how many employees have pursued additional education or training would be one way to measure progress toward this goal.

  3. We can measure how many people have completed advanced placement/lane changes.

  4. Possible things to consider... some personal and professional opportunities DO NOT qualify for clock hours because they don't meet the current definition of what qualifies. Allow employees to "make the case" as to why this would be important to them either personally or professionally and then rewarding them with clock hours is great. Also, sometimes we are mandated to take training outside of the college but then told it doesn't qualify unless you use your own personal time off. Why? If we are really about retaining staff and we embrace personal/professional development - it should be included even IF the college pays for it. In those instances, perhaps the clock hours can have a different weight - but they should not be discounted or the employee forced to pay (either in attending or taking their time off days) for it.
